Connector - The Debut
Deconstructing the internal workings of the shoe by exteriorising impact on walking gait through exploring structural architecture such as truss systems and load distribution is the objective for this project. Aiming for creating a structural footwear collection that combines architectural techniques, traditional footwear making, 3D Printing technology, this wearable footwear collection was produced, in which The sole units and heels are composed of a joint and members cross bracing structural system that structurally utilises Tensile and Compressive forces in footwear construction. The sole units convey a relationship of transparency between the shoe as a product and the user where the user is able to clearly view how the sole unit elements are successfully connected, and how the shoe as a whole is assembled.
BMW New York Collaboration
BMW NYC customized M4 car based on the Connector collection. The complex geometric aesthetic of the Connector shoes was transferred to the body of the M4 car. The car was wrapped with satin white and red graphics, then all the rivets and remaining shoe components were hand painted. The car was showcased in New York during New York Fashion Tech Week.
